The Bell Inn, 4 Bell Road, East Molesey, Surrey, KT8 0SS

The bell Inn, [map] [gmap]

Visited the Bell Inn in East Molesey on Sunday 7th September 2008. We had heard that the manager had changed and knowing that it has a reasonable garden with climbing frame, slide etc for the kidz decided to give it another try.

The Bell is a lovely old 16th century coaching house. I don't know if it was built crooked but it certainly is now. The inside is low oak beams and probably a little on the dark side, although Id rather it that way as full on lighting would spoil the atmosphere.

The pub was surprisingly empty, in fact so empty I wasn't sure if the kitchen was open. An enquiry at the bar confirmed that it was and we settled down to peruse the menu.

We all plumbed for the Sunday roasts which arrived in good time and piping hot. The portions were generous and the price was I think £7.95 for the adults.

The Bell do have a kidz menu but don't do a kidz portion Sunday lunch, although they were happy to provide an additional plate. We constructed a kidz meal with donations from the adults plates.

For those interested in beer, the real ale is cask marque and I had a very nice pint of Fullers London Pride.

The puddings were very nice, the Apple pie was scrummy although I'm guessing from the managers comment that it wasn't home made, I could be wrong as it looked like it was. The kids had a Ice cream desert which was made up from a bit of most things on the menu. The name of it escapes me but that too was good. The puddings were reasonably priced as well.

The only down side was that one of the locals had a dog in the bar which kept yapping. I put up with it for quite a while but in the end had to ask him to keep it quite.

Plus points: Good garden and things for kidz to play on. Reasonably priced food with good portions. Good quality real ale.

Minus points: Yappy dog in bar, brought in by a local.

Worth a visit back?: Yes most definitely.
